I decided to get in touch with producer and get some information on this matter.\u00a0<\/strong><strong>In the meantime, I found out that there was one test to investigate which apples are the best for cider.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In 2010 students and scientists of SSGW (Warsaw University of Life Sciences) carried out a test and wrote a work entitled. &#8220;<em>The impact of domestic varieties of apples and selected yeast strains on the quality ciders<\/em>&#8221; (by M. Iwaniuk, A. Victor, M. Wronka, S. Bonin). They tested six domestic varieties of apples and made cider and evaluated a drink for taste and degree of acidity.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ciderfrompoland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/ciderapples.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-115 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/ciderfrompoland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/ciderapples-300x199.jpg\" alt=\"ciderapples\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"http:\/\/ciderfrompoland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/ciderapples-300x199.jpg 300w, http:\/\/ciderfrompoland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/ciderapples-768x510.jpg 768w, http:\/\/ciderfrompoland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/ciderapples-1024x680.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/ciderfrompoland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/ciderapples-840x560.jpg 840w, http:\/\/ciderfrompoland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/ciderapples-120x80.jpg 120w, http:\/\/ciderfrompoland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/ciderapples-360x240.jpg 360w, http:\/\/ciderfrompoland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/ciderapples-600x400.jpg 600w, http:\/\/ciderfrompoland.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/ciderapples-480x320.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Here are the results:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Champion<\/strong> (Polish: Szampion) &#8211; sweet, not too acidic with high pH which means that this variety barely fit into this type of classification as a drink.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Idared<\/strong> &#8211; very sour and tart in taste, got the highest score in the category of apple flavour in the drink.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Janagold<\/strong> \u2013 the most acidic in a\u00a0whole group.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gloster<\/strong> &#8211; the average level of acidity, an average taste<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cortland<\/strong> (Polish: Kortland) &#8211; sweet and sour, excellent as a base for further experiments<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sawa<\/strong> (a\u00a0variety grown in the Warsaw University of Life Sciences) &#8211; apples of this species are sour and very fragrant, cider produced from them is one of the most acidic.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When I was doing research for this post, I realized that we don\u2019t have Polish cider apples.
