NICA 2023

Nordic International Cider Awards (NICA) is an international cider competition dedicated to ciders and perries from Nordic and Baltic countries. The first edition took place a year ago in Bergen, Norway. This year’s edition took place in Riga, the capital of Latvia.

About the competition

The Nordic International Cider Awards in Bergen was the first event of this type where producers, distributors and consumers from the Scandinavian and Baltic countries met to celebrate cider and apples. The NICA organizers promote the idea of “act locally, think globally”, which is why guests from many countries were invited to the event to share their experience and expert knowledge. Baltic Country Holidays

Baltic Country Holidays (Lauku celotajs) is a rural tourism association based in Latvia, founded in 1993. The association brings together small, family-owned entities that offer accommodation and tourist services in the Latvian countryside and organize trips. It is also developing its activities in neighbouring countries – Estonia and Lithuania. You can read more about their activities here. This year, the association organized the meeting in Riga.

The 4-day event was full of meetings, talks and visits to Latvian cider mills. We are very happy that we could visit Riga and meet some old and new friends.

Polish ciders were awarded in the competition and we are very proud of it: Cydr Dwaj Bracia, Cydrownia Zywer, Cydr Radosny, Cydr Filomelos and Cydr Pheiffer are among the winners.
